Cavall de serp ― remiqueri ― cevil
calabruixa ― volantí de fontana
halicòptero ― farrer ― pixaví
sinyoret ― toreret ― dotó de bassa
guitarró ― tallanassos ― i... parit![endtext]

Yes, he was born in Baltimore and, despite the fact he would eventually settle in California, the fact that his father was a Sicilian immigrant from Partinicu and his mother was of French and Italian ancestry makes me wonder: why didn't his folks talk to him in other language than -received?- English? As if he didn't look European enough...

I used to think Frank Zappa had a thing against homosexuality, but it turned out he was just making fun of fags and dykes like he did of everything else: nonetheless, like regular people, they're to be found in all the layers of society, even in unsuspecting spaces like catholic religion or conservative politics. Happy LGTB Pride, ev'ryones!

Beefheart's heart's stopped just thirteen days onto Frank Zappa's death seventeen years earlier and four days short of the latter's seventieth would-be-birthday; in fact, Captain Don Van Vliet was less of a month ahead of his own seventieth anniversary but he was suffering from multiple sclerosis and -unbeknownst to many- wheelchair-bound since early 1990's. The title track from his twelveth, last album was the first one of him I heard, myself being a sucker for Zappa and having payed not much attention to Trout Mask Replica, but what might surprise youse the most is that this predates Primus by almost a decade!

Girl, you thought he was a man,
but he was a muffin:
he hung around till you found
that he didn't know nuthin!
Girl, you thought he was a man,
but he only was a-puffin';
no cries is heard in the night
as a result of him stuffin'!
He just smells funny: Muffin Man was his concert finale during mid to late seventies, presented here without the introducing speech or the collaboration of Captain Beefheart...
