Aujourd'hui j'm'décide à chanter en joual:
je suis cool, je suis cool, je suis cool...
Go figure: how could this stay out of our collection of Quebecer tunes from all times? If only to speak of Joual like we did on Chiac: according to studies on the subject, the choc des patois that gave birth to old New France's Canadian French in all its variety had only a pitoune proportion of Occitan in the poutine that spake the settlers, but it might be slightly higher in the fabled sociolect of East Montreal. Either Gilles Valiquette wasn't a fierce supporter of the slang or he was mocking all those who faked the accent. Funny fact: joual stands for cheval as they prononce it.
