Li'l Shrimp o' the Isle

He was king among his kind because he mastered all the styles of flamenco with his gifted voice. And, when he gave it a twist with La leyenda del tiempo, he was booed by fans and purists alike for perverting its roots with bass, drums and keys. But, in the end, he died a hero having lived as a legend. José Monge Cruz, better known only as Camarón (formerly de la Isla), would have turned sixty-one today although, like Elvis, he's still alive.
