Sicily's own answer to Zappa -whose father was born in Partinicu- is Franco Battiato, the most creative, experimental, influential and beloved artist born in the Mediterranean island or all of the Italian Peninsula. And although he had moved to Milano at age twenty and has developed his career mainly in Italian (other than Arabic, English and Spanish), he has a handful of songs in Sicilian language.
