Beefheart's heart's stopped just thirteen days onto Frank Zappa's death seventeen years earlier and four days short of the latter's seventieth would-be-birthday; in fact, Captain Don Van Vliet was less of a month ahead of his own seventieth anniversary but he was suffering from multiple sclerosis and -unbeknownst to many- wheelchair-bound since early 1990's. The title track from his twelveth, last album was the first one of him I heard, myself being a sucker for Zappa and having payed not much attention to Trout Mask Replica, but what might surprise youse the most is that this predates Primus by almost a decade!
