Leonard Cohen famously said that as a young kid he used to sing this adaptation of Bernard's La complainte del partidista with a friend while dreaming of anonymous heroes he'd never meet. If I ever had a hero when I was a young kid, it wasn't anonymous: his name was Leonard.
